A Winter Fog

The misty fog which muffles sound
and obscures neighboring hills and
fields alike in it's sheer, gray shroud.

 

The clinging fog which freezes on
each strand between the leaning
fence posts and turns the great blue spruce to icy white.

 

The surrounding fog which creates a visual island

populated by shapes and forms

in monochromatic whites and grays.

 

The tender fog which turns each roadside thistle and milkweed

into a masterpiece of beauty
undreamed of by artists.

 

The chilly fog which dampens cap and glove and

slips frozen underfoot in
summer's sleeping garden.
