After self publishing two CD's and scoring his first Independent film, guitarist, Matthew Woolsey has decided to share his music with the general public. His first CD, titled "New Balance", can be heard in Salon's and Spa's, throughout Northern California. "New Balance" is a collection of arrangements of acoustic contemporary instrumentals, that can be enjoyed by a wide audience of listeners. Woolsey's musical interests are self indulgent, however, with the recent success and distribution of "New Balance", he has been inspired to continue to record and produce his music. As a result of his recent success, Woolsey is already in the studio cutting his second CD. MMW Productions, Woolsey's production company, has received numerous letters from several organizations and individuals that have found a lot of enjoyment and fulfillment in their everyday lives by listening to his harmonic rhythms and soulful melodies. His music is very soothing and relaxing. Tracks such as Rebecca and Inspiration shows Woolsey's musical presence and offers proof that he is one of the most inventive and graceful guitarists of our time. "New Balance" was recorded at Woolsey's studio. In order to best capture the melodic sound he wanted, Woolsey cut the majority of the album's tracks live in the studio.
Matthew Woolsey was born in Santa Cruz, California. Matt started his music career at the ripe old age of 13, playing a wide variety of songs, ranging from Hank Williams to the Beach Boys. For the last 30 years Matt has been playing acoustic and electric guitar. For the last 5 years, he has been writing and recording his music and in this auspicious year 2000, he has successfully produced his first CD, "New Balance."
Woolsey, attended college in Southern California and received private music lessons on and off for about 15 years. He then relocated to Northern California in 1988. He has been a self taught musician for most of his career. His real interest lies in scoring films, but knows that the Holistic and New Age market as well as the Salon and Spa industries are where businesses and individuals get the most peace and tranquility from his music. His music is introspective, melodic and simple.
